Here's how: Last week the Environmental Protection Agency repealed the "endangerment finding," the 2009 scientific analysis that authorized the Feds to regulate greenhouse gases (GHG) under the Clean Air Act (CAA).

Did Big Oil cause the 2021 heat dome? |

Four years ago, a killer heat dome struck the Pacific Northwest claiming the lives of over 800 people, including 100 Oregonians. For a three-day period, temperatures spiked to 116F, while "urban heat islands" in Portland sizzled under 124F heat. Climate experts agree that, but for fossil-fuel induced climate change, accelerated by a sophisticated and effective decades-long disinformation campaign by Big Oil, the heat dome would never have happened.

Wildfire smoke threatens our health and local economy |

How many times last summer did you stay home because of the thick haze of wildfire smoke blanketing our county? How many times did you have to keep your children indoors? How many times did your friends and family decline to visit because of the polluted air?
As the owner of a brewery with a beer garden and outdoor music venue, we know firsthand that wildfire smoke-outs are becoming more frequent and more toxic to our health, as well as to the bottom line.

Celebrate Earth Day with protections for old forests |

On this coming 53rd Earth Day, we celebrate older forests from Amazonia to Oregon. Nearly 10 billion forested acres globally serve as the planet's lungs and water-cooling towers - cleansing the air we breathe, purifying drinking water and keeping the Earth from overheating further. This is why 145 nations, including the U.S., recently pledged to end forest losses globally.
But not all forests are equal. Only about a third remain unlogged worldwide, and in Oregon under 20% are old enough to support sentinel trees, represented by our state tree, Douglas fir, that achieves towering heights over centuries of growth
